The Happiest Place on Earth

“Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age & dreams are forever” – Walt Disney

The sun is shining, the skies are clear. Happy and excited children, laughing, surround you. Running around in their custom made Disney t- shirts. You are just as excited as these small children about the day’s adventures ahead of you. Welcome my friends, to Disney’s Magical Kingdom in Orlando, Florida.

It is every child’s dream to head to Disneyland, and when it is not possible due to the country you live in or your circumstances, you can definitely make up for it in adulthood! Well… that’s what we did anyway.

After walking through the main gates, seeing many girls dressed up as their favourite Disney princess we headed to Cinderella’s palace for that iconic photo. En route, you stop off to buy your mickey ears on the famous Main Street, as hey, why not? Everybody else is wearing them.

I do highly recommend arriving as soon as the gates open to take advantage of the shorter lines for the rides, and then leaving the middle of the day to have a wonder around. You can go and watch the parade and see your favourite Disney characters or eat a Mickey mouse ice-cream while taking in all those happy Disney vibes.

The park is open for 12 hours from 10am to 10pm, and you think; oh I wont need all that time to explore the park but honestly you do! I would even go as far as getting yourself a two day pass for this park alone! The time flies from having so much fun, that you are disappointed when the day comes to a close.

I have always enjoyed the mini rollercoaster rides so it should come as no surprise that my favourite ride of the day was the Big Thunder Roller Mountain where you are in a mining cart and you go fast around the tracks. Coming in close after this ride, was going through the Pirates of Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion.

To experience the true Disney, you must also pay visits to the rides of It’s a small world, Peter Pan’s flight and meet the famous Mickey Mouse in person. I must also state that I was excited to see that they had a replica of the Swiss Family Robinson house. Many kids these days probably have no idea what an incredible film and story it is!

It wouldn’t truly be the happiest day ever (especially as Disney claims) if you did not stay to watch the light show spectacular. Even though you will feel like a squished sardine in a tin whilst watching, the light display across Cinderella’s palace is truly amazing. Tinkerbell even flies (takes a zip wire) from the top of palace into the distance. I do not think I have seen so many tears of joy from the crowd at anything in my life.

Lastly some important tips…

The Fast Pass+

The fast pass is what I would call a blessing in disguise. The fast pass allows you to pick up to three rides a day where you can jump the queues and walk straight onto the rides. The reason why this is so great is that you can do more things in your day rather than waiting in queues all the time. And lets be honest, who loves queuing? I do recommend booking these in advance so you can get quickly onto the best rides!

The App

Do not go to Disney land without this. This is your navigation bible and gives you up to date waiting times to get on to each ride if you do not have a fast pass. Download it! You wont regret it!
